Kidney Stone Treatment (ESWL)

Stone fragmentation using acoustic waves from outside the body. Anesthesia-free, outpatient.

What is ESWL?

ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy) is a non-surgical treatment for kidney and ureteral stones. High-energy acoustic waves generated outside the body are focused onto the stone; the stone is broken down to sand-sized particles and passed naturally through urine.

Biosan has been applying this method since 1987 and is Türkiye's first ESWL center. We have successfully treated tens of thousands of patients without surgery.

If you are experiencing severe pain, changes in urine color, accompanied at times by fever, nausea, or vomiting, a stone disease may be suspected. Early diagnosis increases treatment success.

Who Is It Suitable For?

  • Patients diagnosed with kidney or ureteral stones
  • Cases where stone size is appropriate for ESWL
  • Single-kidney patients (with careful monitoring)
  • Patients with horseshoe kidney
  • Pediatric age group
